Kolak Biji Salak - Sweet potato Balls Dessert


One of favorite dishes for breaking the fast in Ramadhan is Biji salak! In Indonesia of course. :-) 

The main ingredients you need are only Sweet potatoes, sugar, tapioca flour. And for the syrup, just prepare dark brown sugar, coconut milk and lil salt. For the fragrant all you need is Kaffir lime leaves or pandan leaves *optional*


Methods
The sweet potato balls
2 sweet potatoes, peeled, washed, sliced, steamed n mashed right away while it's still warm at least. 

Meanwhile boil 2 cups of water in a pot. while waiting Mixed with 4 oz of tapioca flour and sugar. Shaped into small balls. It will be sticky so make sure you pour your palm with tapioca flour. As soon as the balls done, cooked them in the boiling water till all of them floating,

once they're floating means they're cooked. Picked them all. Put aside.

White Sauce/coconut milk dressing
2 oz of tapioca flour
1 cup of water mix with 3-4 spoon of coconut milk powder
1 tsp of salt
Put them all in a pot. Mixed. Bring them to boil, till thick.

Brown Syrup
Prepare another pot
3 cups of water
1 tsp of salt
5 tbsp of Brown Sugar (or more depends on how sweet you want, bring to taste before final touch hehe)

Bring them all to boil. Add Kaffir lime, Pandan flavor or vanila. Mixed. 
Pour all the sweet potato balls.
When you wanna serve it, Pour the white sauce. Add little ice cube if you wanna have it cold.
