Bone Soup

Believe it or not I only like lil meat in the bones just like doggy I guess lol. Well I am not a meat person to be honest. I like meat that's still attached or near the bone. If pure meat then I have to cook till it's absorbed the seasoning *rich spicy* such as Rendang.

Quite surprise bones here are very cheap. In a pack sometimes 1-2 dollars
The only I wish for here is Goat. Yea I don't know where I could find bones of Goat. That would be nice!

Ingredients and How to cook

1 pack of bone soup
2 cups water
Ginger roots
1 tsp salt
Boiled all in a medium pot, till the meat is a bit tender. Removed the fat that's around the side of the pot and surface. The fastest way is take strainer and pour it to another clean pot. Continue boiling.

Meanwhile prepare the seasoning.
take couple of shallots, cloves of garlic, black pepper, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric. Make into paste with magic bullet or in a mortar. Saute it and add cinnamon stick, cloves, cracked nutmeg. Smells would be sooooo good.
Pour it to the boiling bones. Add some potatoes, carrots. Cook till they are tender.

For garnishing and serving, you can slice some tomatoes, couple of spoons fresh Indonesian style pickles ( cubes of carrots, cucumbers, shallots, and some fresh green chilies/thai chili soaked in white vinegar with lil salt and sugar plus lil water )
and fried shallots(sliced thinly n fried till golden color, make sure don't burn it lol)

and of course Jasmine rice! and chicken satay or Goat satay would be great. Happy tummy!:D

Soto Betawi

Soto Betawi Munik Instant seasoning actually. I'm cheating lol.
Heard Munik brand is yummy so I bought some from Indonesia.
well it's not the same as I know about Soto Betawi, the broth is not pale yellow. The taste is quite the same tho.

Additional garnish just tomatoes, Indonesian pickles *diced cucumber, carrots, fresh chili that's been added vinegar n lil sugar*

Served with lontong or rice and gnetum gnemon crackers aka emping hahah *I still remember the biology term of it* and potatoes that had been diced and boiled.

Hubby loves it!
He ate lontong rice cake too!

Next time I would make my own seasoning from scratch!
Bon appetite!

Soto Ayam Lontong

Sooo Happy!!!
Lontong is done!
perfect using Indonesian rice cake molds I got when I was in Indonesia.
Woohooo!
This is my beautiful yummy rice cake! named lontong.

I actually never have soto ayam served with Lontong until I was in Lombok when I ordered soto ayam and got lontong in it! Ahhh so full tho.

Lontong is made from rice, wrapped in banana leaves and boiled for quite long but since I have presto "pressure cooker" so it takes only 40-45min. Awesome!

I used short grained rice, Indian style but I forgot the name of it.
The thing is we don't like it but we got plenty!Oh boy.

This is an experiment also n glad I could make it into Lontong and taste better!

I boiled with pinch of lime stone I got from oriental market.  Back in Indonesia, people add it in rice if they make ketupat *coconut leaves rice cake* to make the rice solid n soft.

Usually I eat with hard boiled egg, vermicelli noodles and rice.
If you wanna spicy then add sambal, that would be good choice to eat it with.
To be honest the making of yellow broth this time, I had ready one in a jar,
it's "Bumbu soto ayam, chicken soup seasoning, Cap Ibu (mother brand)
Resep tradisional asli Indonesia.
Bumbu soto ayam (click that)

I got it in Tampa. Just added a pinch of salt, some kaffir lime leaves, galangal n ginger roots fresh.
Boiled with chicken wings till they are soft.
add potatoes if you like.
