Tahu Isi -Tempura Stuffed Tofu-

It's been a while I don't eat this kind of tofu. I always make Tahu Berontak or tofu that's mixed with veggies and the batter is also mixed in and then fried it. It's simpler compare to this one.

Making Tahu Isi needs to prepare the filling, fried the tofu first to make it firmer when they're filled and then fried again with the batter. It Tastes better tho in my opinion.

I used firm tofu that was sliced 2" by 2" and marinated in turmeric, salt and coriander for about 10min, fried it till golden brown. Cool it down and then make cleft in two sides for putting the filling.

Prepare the filling by grinding the shallots, garlic, add lil salt, into pure. saute it and add the veggies that were chopped, carrots and bean sprouts. I added chopped shrimps and green chili. Cooked for about 15min.

Prepare the batter. All purpose flour, rice flour, seasoned with lil turmeric, pepper, salt, coriander. Mixed in water. just lil. The batter is not too thick but not too thin.
When everything is ready, Take the fried tofu that's been making cleft on sides, stuffing it with the filler, carefully dipped in batter, make sure all surface is dipped. Then fried in deep frying till golden brown.
Served with fresh green chili or sriracha sauce.

Baked-Tofu

Baked-Tofu by Fitri Harrell
Baked-Tofu, a photo by Fitri Harrell on Flickr.
I've got the left over filling of *Indonesian empanades a.k.a pastel but too lazy making the skin from the scratch again, So i mixed it with 2.5 pack of square firm tofu. Add grated carrots, green onion, salt, chicken bouilon powder*optional*. Baked in muffin pan that has already brushed with oil for about 45min. Removed and cooled it down. You can eat with fresh green chili or chili sauce. But If you wanna fry it after you bake it then prepare whisk eggs, dipped it. Deep fried till golden brown.

Tahu Aci Tegal/Tahu Murni

Few weeks ago my sis in Jakarta, Indonesia bbm me telling that she was on the way to Tegal, Central Java visiting old relatives, our mom's graveyard as well. She knows the food that i like most there is this Tofu! Gosh how i miss that! Browsing the net for the recipe and asking my friend to get similar tofu makes this dream comes true LOL
Here is the link i got http://dapurmbakasri.blogspot.com/2008/04/tahu-aci-tahu-tegal.html well somehow i might did little bit mistake for the tapioca dough but well i could fix it. The taste is about the same. *i got different tofu taste*
Just wanna give u little tips. When you glue the tapioca dough to the tofu, get ready with the hot oil in frying pan. Fry it right away, otherwise the dough will run away hahahaha
Fried till the dough is done. Served with green chili pepper. Eat while its hot *coz when its cold, tapioca dough will be tough n watch out for your teeth LOL*

1 pack of firm tofu, mashed
2 chicken boneless breasts, chopped
4 Tbsp of anchovy (optional, i still have little)

Ingredients B
3 green onion, chopped
4 mushroom, sliced
3 Serrano chilies, chopped * i like hot chili pepper*
2 eggs
150 ml coconut milk
1 tbsp of tamarind

1 tsp of turmeric
1 tbsp of chicken powder
1 tsp of coriander
1 tsp of chili powder
1 tsp of salt

Ingredients D
1 tbsp of salt
2 cloves of garlic
3 shallots
1 tbsp of pepper
3 red chilies
1 tsp of Nutmeg
Grind them all into pure

How to cook
Marinated the chicken with lemon juice for about 15min. Clean it and marinated with ingredients C for about 15min.
Mix ingredients A, B, D

Prepare banana leaves and steamer. Wrapped in banana leaves and steam for about 30min.

since i only have little banana leaves left, i used aluminum foil but still used the banana leaves inside to make the fragrant of the leaves but if you have enough banana leaves i suggest using that, somehow the leaves make the food more yummy hahaha

Baladoo

Balado is famous food from west sumatra, Indonesia. It's hot spicy food. The main ingredient is usually eggs or meat. I put both plus tofu this time.

Preparation
3 eggs *optional, more or less* boiled, after that break the shell and fry with little oil till some parts have brown color.
1 Pack of tofu, cut into square and fry till brown color.
Half pound of meat, slice into smaller square thin size.

Seasoning and how to make
10 red chili peppers
2 cloves of garlic
2 shallots
Ground them in Food processor and saute with 3 spoons of olive oil. Bring them till simmer smells good. Add 2 bay leaves. 1 tsp of salt. 1 tsp of sugar. Mix it well. Add the meat and cook till they are brown and tender. Pour little water so it's not too dry. Bring them to boil. Add the eggs and tofu. Serve with Jasmine rice.
